~  About C.F. Mathews  ~

Hello-I'm C.F. Mathews.  I'm a wife and mother, living in New York.

I decided to start this blog because I've been concerned about the future for a long time. It started with my pro-life work twenty some-odd years ago. I realized that the de-sanctification of human life would have dire consequences for the future if allowed to follow its logical course. I started reading about Catholic prophecy and it only confirmed my worst suspicions. As my research continued, I learned that many others throughout the world are thinking the same things.  I believe we need to first, re-establish authentic Catholic culture and second, preserve it through the rough waters ahead.  I have much to learn and would like to invite you to walk with me on this journey to learn more and to help get the Church through the times that are upon us.  My goal is simply to be another voice for these issues, to help bring them to the fore of Roman Catholic discourse. Furthermore, it is my hope that we will begin to see the development of working Catholic communal groups which are completely self-sufficient.  It is my firm belief that small, self-sufficient communities is the way of the future.

I was born in the late 1960's in Levittown, NY. My father died of a heart attack when I was seven years old. My mother remarried a Jewish man, which led to the experience of living in Israel for several months, which changed my whole perspective on life. I've lived throughout New York and New Jersey, in urban, suburban and rural areas. Living in different environments has given me a broad view of life and has caused me to naturally think "outside the box."

I've studied voice, piano and music composition and have written many songs, most of which have never been heard and perhaps shouldn't be. I attended Glassboro State College (now called Rowan) and SUNY at Purchase, majoring in music. Writing in all forms has been a passion of mine my entire life.

I've done teaching and tutoring and have worked with homeschooled children. I've worked in the pro-life movement in many different capacities, which has provided me with a wealth of life experience (like having the backs of my shoes stepped on by "death-scorts") and hopefully, some grace. In my pro-life work, I was privileged to meet and get to know some of the great pro-lifers of our day such as Fr. Mike Mannion, Chris Slattery, Chris and Joan Andrews Bell and Fr. Benedict Groeschel.  In the business world, I've done various kinds of office work and sales.

I was baptized Catholic, but did not fully understand the faith until my late teens. Shortly thereafter, I attended my first Tridentine Mass at St. Agnes in NYC and was changed forever by it. At St. Agnes, I met Fr. John Perricone and Fr. George Rutler. These two men had an incredible impact on my spiritual and intellectual development.

Since getting married and having a child, I've had a variety of health problems, which have slowed me down a bit. However, I have remained active in PTA projects, church activities and assorted other things. I have a family member who was very close to the World Trade Center on September 11th and another who suffered through Hurricane Katrina.  I've wondered why these two major U.S. events of our time (which seem to have historical significance, particularly regarding the very issues we'll be discussing here) affected me so deeply and personally.  The more I think about my life, the more it all seems to make sense and to have followed a mysterious course of Divine Providence.  Of course, that is true of all God's children.  I invite you to journey with me in this venture into cyberspace, the Futurecatholic.net Internet Apostolate...
